There is a special kind of music that comes from a family. The Allmans, The Bee Gees, The Jacksons; all family bands, and all possessed a bond that drew from a well much deeper than just music. Damascus Road Bluegrass is a band born of family, reared of simple roots, and honed by years of commitment and dedication.
Damascus Road is: Bill Hudson, Richard Gifford, John Gifford and Larry Gifford. The Gifford boys are brothers and the Hudson boy was grafted in to the family with an unbreakable oath sworn over a dozen 10-cent cheeseburgers piled high upon a sacred banjo, or so the tale is told.
Over their 35-year history, Damascus Road has been entertaining audiences with their contemporary musical stylings and unique sense of humor. They’ve shared the stage with many legends of bluegrass, even Bill Monroe himself, and have ministered with Jack Hayford (Church on the Way), Chuck Swindoll (Insight for Living), and Greg Laurie (Harvest Ministries). In addition to the hundreds of venues and churches across the U.S., they have also toured Europe with the USO and been headline performers at Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and San Diego’s Wild Animal Park.
With the experience gained by years of work and thousands of performances, the guys are masters of their craft, tailoring each of their shows to the venues and audience. Traditional bluegrass programs, lively contemporary jams (complete with drums, congas, organ and electric guitar) and heartfelt praise & worship sets are carefully developed to entertain and inspire.
